My Family Tree with the Brightest Leaves

When I woke up this morning I jumped on the good old internet and found a few of my family members on facebook.  It got me thinking of my family and how much they mean to me.  Now, we all live in Akron Ohio but about half of my family has since moved and currently reside in Florida, California, and Minnesota.  Even my father now lives in Florida.

My family has played a very important part in my life.  I draw inspiration from my aunts and uncles, I'm extremely proud of my cousins, and I have the utmost respect and admiration for my grandparents.  Over the last  14 years my life has had many ups and downs (the downs being more like plunges) and it always seems like someone has been there for me.  Once when I was hospitalized for a major surgery my aunt Jean came to visit me and saw how lonely I was so she left to go home and then came back with a portable DVD player and a laundry bag of movies for me to watch.  A small gesture but amazing nonetheless.

Video games are one of my favorite hobbies.  Nothing is better than putting in a good game and playing for hours on end.  I have my father and my uncle Chuck to thank for that.  My uncle always had the new systems and the new games and on more than one occasion he would let my brother and I borrow them.  I remember the first dose of the Playstation I got was when my uncle let us borrow his with Resident Evil and D.  My other uncle Roger is an inspiration to me as well.  My father is a great dad.  He always made sure I was fed and warm and he worked very hard for it.  My uncle Roger is the same with his kids.  At times I thought he was a bit over protective but looking back on it now I think he's one of the best fathers I've ever seen.  In the future when I have my children I will be taking lessons from these two men and how they raised wonderful kids.

Speaking of my parents I can't begin to describe the level of gratitude I have for them (at times) when it comes to their recent developments.  My mother decided to go back to school a couple years ago and she's still going strong.  It's the best decision she's made in over a decade and I'm very proud of her progress.  My father has wanted to live in Florida all of his life.  Well a few years ago he finally decided to go for it and move down.  I stayed behind because I had too much keeping me here but I knew he needed to go to be happy so I gave him my blessing.  He lives there now and loves every minute of it.

I could seriously go down the line and write something amazing about everyone in my family from my amazing and talented cousins here, down south, and out west.  I could talk about my many aunts who are open to all sorts of different religions and cultures and who I would never hear criticize or judge another human being.  Or, my God, I could talk about my grandparents.  Truly amazing people who I couldn't be more proud to have in my life guiding me through it (love and miss you Ma Maw!).

Why am I blogging about this?  Well it started as a feeling inside that I didn't want to keep in.  I felt I needed to get it out there in some form or another and, well, I started this blog so I could write.  So there it is.  I love my family with all my heart and soul and I wish them all well in the coming years of life as it attempts to destroy us all lol.

And with that I wish everyone a great day and best to all.

A Beginning.

Hello all. This is my first ever blog entry and I'm going to fill it with whatever is on my mind at this time. May as well start out realistically.

The reason for this blog is to write, well just about anything. I have found in the recent months that I love writing to the point that every day now I open my journal and start writing something down. Sometimes it's a poem, sometimes it's a short story, and sometimes I even add a little to my first novel. So perhaps that is what I will talk about now.

A few months ago I lost my job and unfortunately for me it was (almost) the best job I could hope for. It was a crushing defeat for me but as I cleared my head of the debris I realized that I could now devote all my time and effort into doing what I really wanted to do. So I traveled to the nearest Target, picked up a writer's journal and a few new pens and headed home to start my stories. I currently have roughly a dozen poems written, a short story almost completed, and I am proud to say am now 125 pages into my first novel. It is an exercise I am surprised has given me such pride and happiness. Even if I put my pen to paper and only write the synopsis for a new story I have in my head it still comes out a win to me and like I said before fills me with a great satisfaction.

Over the next few weeks I'm going to post more blog entries and even post my poems and short stories (because many more will come to me) so if you want to read them I say go ahead and please enjoy. Once again this is my first post so I'm going to leave it a bit vague just giving a bit of insight into me and my writing. My next post will be deeper than this one I assure you.

Thanks to any and all who read this and have a wonderful day.
